A selection of great books about grief.
I grew up in a house filled with books and book-lovers. My father worked as a textbook editor when I was young. His job had one extraordinary perk as far as my five brothers and sisters and I were concerned — the oversized box of children’s books that landed on the door of the yellow farmhouse once a year. Books were transformation, imagination and conduits of truths that, once learned, could change us.

Two local duck boat captains saved the day after a man and his young child fell into the Charles River in Boston.
Per the outlet, the Massachusetts State Police said their investigation indicated “the child squeezed through the railing,” and that afterwards, “the child’s father jumped into the river” to get to his child.
Representatives from the Massachusetts State Police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Wakefield’s efforts in many ways bookend the story presented in the documentary series. He was the pitcher on the mound for the Red Sox in the final game of the 2003 American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees when then Yankees third baseman Aaron Boone hit a home run that sent New York to the World Series once again and prolonged Boston’s World Series drought.
