Idaho authorities said two archery hunters shot and killed an adult male grizzly bear after the animal attacked one of them.
The department added that the bear struck and bit the hunter. He and his friend were able to retrieve their firearms to shoot and kill the animal.
They then contacted 911 and the injured hunter was later airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment of his non-life-threatening wounds.

Hurricane Helene has been upgraded to a Category 4 storm before making landfall in Florida late on Thursday, Sept. 26.Originally a tropical storm, Helene became a Category 4 hurricane on Thursday and is expected to bring “life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds and flooding rains” to a large portion of Florida and southeastern parts of the U.S., theNational Hurricane Centerannounced.The storm’s sustained winds have now grown stronger than 120 miles per hour, according toAccuWeather.

In 2022, whenHurricane Ianhit Florida’s Sanibel Island, Michele Vikartofsky decided to stay put in her second-floor condo. When she learned that only a handful of people remained at the complex — all in first-floor units — she texted everybody and said, “Hey guys, if you need to shelter in place up here, please come.”
Soon, neighbor Larry Leventhal, who she had never met before, was ringing her doorbell with a small parade of neighbors behind him, and the group rode out the storm as the water surged 13 feet high into the building.

Hurricane Milton has “rapidly intensified” into a Category 4.
Just after 9 a.m. ET on Monday, Oct. 7, theNational Hurricane Centersaid that the storm now has maximum sustained winds of 150 mph, putting it just 7 mph short of a Category 5 hurricane.
The newest update came after the NHC noted in their 8 a.m. report that the storm had reached maximum sustained winds of 125 mph, marking a 25-mph increase over the course of just one hour.
