One person is dead and another is in custody after police say an armed suspect hijacked a city bus.
The Los Angeles Police Department shared onX(formerly Twitter) that the incident began when officers received radio calls around 12:34 a.m. local time “related to an incident on a bus in the area of Manchester and Figueroa.”
Police were eventually able to locate the bus, but when they “attempted to communicate with the driver,” the bus “pulled away and a pursuit ensued.

One person has died after a helicopter crashed onto the roof of a hotel in Cairns, Australia on Monday, Aug. 12.
In a statement, theQueensland Police Serviceconfirmed that the pilot, who was the only occupant of the aircraft, was declared dead at the scene after the helicopter collided with the hotel roof.
“Police are investigating following a fatal aviation incident in Cairns City this morning, August 12,” police said in their statement.

A helicopter crash at an Alabama military base has resulted in one person’s death and another being injured, during what was described as a “routine flight training.”On Wednesday, Aug. 7, around 1:40 p.m. local time, military officials at the Ford Novosel base “were notified of a mishap of an AH-64 Apache helicopter conducting routine flight training on Fort Novosel,” according to a release shared with PEOPLE from the U.

One person has died and three people have been injured after a cargo jet crashed in Lithuania.
On Monday, Nov. 25, a Swiftair Boeing 737-400 operating on behalf of DHL “crashed in a residential area short of the runway while attempting to land in Vilnius” after departing from Leipzig, Germany, live air traffic site Flightradar24 postedon X(formerly known as Twitter).

The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended a search for four missing people after a boat capsized near California’s Bodega Bay over the weekend and left one person dead.
On Saturday, Nov. 2, around 11:40 p.m. local time, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office notified the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco of six “overdue” boaters who left from Westside Marina at 3 p.m. that day and were scheduled to return four hours later on the “21-foot blue and white vessel,” per a release from theCoast Guard.
