An elderly couple — considered “pillars of the community” — was gunned down in the driveway of their North Carolina home.
Both victims were shot in the head with a shotgun at “point blank range,” according to a press release posted on Facebook from theNorthampton County Sheriff’s Office.
Arrested in the murders is Ryvaries Butcher, a relative and neighbor of the retired couple.
According to Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith, Powell and his wife had just returned to their home outside of Gaston when they were shot.

An Ohio man has been found guilty of raping his 11-year-old daughter after his two stepdaughters also came forward alleging he had raped them.One of the stepdaughters alleged the 48-year-old convicted sex offender raped her and that she gave birth to his child when she herself was 11.The man, of Columbus, was found guilty of one count of rape of a child under the age of 13 and one count of gross sexual imposition, theFranklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Officesaid in a statement.

Ahmad Ervin, 42, found the urn of a child — with the name Marcel Akarhi Alexander inscribed on it —when he was cleaning out his truck after it was stolen.
