He may be a critically acclaimed actor, butAdam Driver’s most important role is being a dad to his two kids.

Although theMarriage Storyactor prefers to keep his children out of the spotlight, he has occasionally opened up aboutnavigating fatherhood as a dad of twoin Hollywood.

“I’m remembering this time that I have to enjoy it more,” Driver said onLive with Kelly and Markabout his daughter’s birth. “This first time, it went too fast and I was so anxious for him to kind of develop so he could communicate and tell me what was wrong. And now I’m more patient with her. I’m trying to enjoy it more."

Driver jokingly added that he and his daughter are best friends, noting she “likes me more” than her older brother, who “didn’t want anything to do with me for the first three years.”

Saturday Night Liveholds a special place in Driver’s heart. It’s where the actor publicly confirmed the births of his son and daughter — on separate occasions.

Driver revealed that he had been promoted to “Dad” during hisSaturday Night Livehosting appearance in January 2020.

“I’m a husband. And a father. It’s in that order, though. I’ve been very clear with my son about that, he’s second in everything,” he quipped during his opening monologue.

In February 2023, news broke that the couple wereexpecting their second childtogether. Driver laterannounced the arrival of his daughterduring aSaturday Night Livedress rehearsal in December 2023.

He’s kept his children out of the spotlight

At the 2018 Los Cabos International Film Festival,reporters asked Driver, “How does being a father change your input on films?” to which he responded, “I mean, it changes everything.”

When pressed for more information, Driver added, “I don’t want to get into it. … It’s kinda private to me, so I’m going to keep it that way.”

Fatherhood gave Driver a new outlook on his career

While appearing on theSmartLesspodcast in January 2024, Driver shared that he’s become much “more aware” of the types of projects he has taken on since becoming a parent.

“I was working consistently, basically all through my 30s. Now that I have two kids, I’ve been trying to switch how I’ve been working,” theHouse of Guccistar shared. “Now I can’t be gone that long, and I don’t want to be gone that long anymore.”

Driver’s son is “very protective” of his little sister

Adding a younger sibling to the mix can be challenging for some firstborns, but not Driver’s son.

On the subject of his son becoming a big brother, Driver said onSmartLessin January 2024, “I feel like we gave him six years of attention, and he’s totally fine.”

The Oscar nominee added that his son “is very protective” of his sister.

Driver has said that his son is his toughest critic

In 2023, Driver remarked that his son “hates movies” and “has no interest in watching” any of his films, including his dinosaur film,65.

“I was with my family all the time, and my son was just telling me everything about every dinosaur,” he recalled onLate Night with Seth Meyersin March 2023, adding that he hoped his child would love the movie that had a lot to do with “dinosaurs and laser guns.”

Driver continued, “He’s into dinosaurs. I’m like, ‘I’m in.’ And then we went [to set], and he kind of knew everything. The guy was like, ‘This might be a little scary. Don’t be scared.’ He’s like, ‘No … Gallimimus … Eoraptor’ … He was naming everything, he was really into it.”

However, he wasn’t interested when it came time to watch his dad’s new movie in theaters.

“He doesn’t want to see the movie because it’s too scary,” Driver explained. “So, I basically made this thing for him to watch that he has no interest in watching.”
