Andrew Garfield Says He'll 'Never' 'Confirm or Deny' Anything About His Love Life

Andrew Garfieldis no longer kissing and telling.

While speaking withEsquirefor an interview published on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the actor made it clear that he has no interest in sharing details of his personal life and love life with the public.

“I have never, and I won’t ever, speak about or confirm or deny anything about my personal life with anyone, ever," Garfield, 41, said.

Esquirewrote that its interview withWe Live in Timestar came as he was reported to be datingKate Tomas, an author and spiritual advisor. The pair were seenholding handson what appeared to be a double date night withPhoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnhamin Malibu, Calif. back in March. Representatives for theAcademy Award-nominated actor and Tomas did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment at that time.

Since that first sighting, Tomas and Garfield have since been spotted together a number of times. The author, podcast host and self-described “spiritual mentor” toldThe Sunday Timesin July about the spotlight the relationship had brought upon her, saying of paparazzi, “They will take maybe 150 pictures, then theychoose the four where you look worst.”

Garfield has long been known for keeping his romances out of the public eye. Prior to Tomas, he was linked to modelAlyssa Millerfrom 2021 to 2022; he also dated hisAmazing Spider-MancostarEmma Stonein the 2010s.

The actor did briefly acknowledge his relationship with Stone, 35, while speaking withEsquire, after the outlet noted some fans of his purportedly believe her 2017 movie,La La Land, “is based in some way” on their relationship. “I guess people need something to believe,” Garfield said in response, shrugging.

“He was 24 when we first worked together, so there’s a lot of life that’s happened to him since then,” Crowley, 55, toldEsquireof working with Garfield again after they previously collaborated on 2007’sBoy A. “The reservoir that he’s drawing on, especially for this story, is bigger and richer and more potent.”
