Ariana Grande Did 'Queer Tarot Card' Readings onWickedSet, Says Bowen Yang: 'She Was Very in Her Element'

During a video feature Yang, 33, took part in forThemmagazine published Wednesday, Oct. 23, in which formerRuPaul’s Drag RacestarJan Sportgave Yang a drag makeover, theWickedactor recounted that Grande, 31, performed tarot card readings onWicked’s set when asked about his favorite day of filming the upcoming movie.

“Ari had gotten a deck of queer Tarot cards and she was basically doing a three-card pull,” theSaturday Night Livestar said. “She was giving us tarot readings. She was very in her element and I was like, ‘You should do this for a living.’ "

“Like if you hate singing, if you all of a sudden are so bad at it… can you imagine, imagine Ariana Grande being bad at singing?” Yang added with a laugh.

Yang and Grande are part of an ensemble cast for theupcoming two-part adaptationof the beloved Broadway musical that also featuresCynthia Erivoas Elphaba,Michelle Yeohas Madame Morrible,Jonathan Baileyas Fiyero,Jeff Goldblumas the Wizard, Marissa Bode as Nessarose,Keala Settleas Miss Coddle andEthan Slateras Boq. Yang himself portrays Pfannee, while Grande costars with Erivo, 37, as Glinda.

Back in June, Yang opened up to PEOPLE about his friendship with Grande at the third annualLas CulturistasCulture Awards. “I just find her to be so personal and down to earthin a way that is disarming, in a way that makes you think, ‘Oh, I totally forgot about the fact that you are who you are,' " he said at the time.

“She is someone who will get on your level and just someone who has such a capacity for empathy,” he added. “She is — and I mean this so, so, so complimentarily — very emotional. She’s a crier, and that’s the thing that I’m most jealous of. Any time someone is a good crier like this one [Matt Rogers] I’m like, ‘I kind of wish I had that.’ ”
