Live from Studio 8H — it’sAriana Grande!
Grande marked her second time asSNLhost with a monologue packed with celebrity impressions, as well as hilarious sketches where she impersonated the likes ofJennifer CoolidgeandCeline Dion.
Spoofing a Maybelline commercial, the singer played a mirror image ofChloe Fineman’s Coolidge, where they applied lip gloss from the brand and discussed what to talk about on an upcoming date.
Though both Fineman, 36, and Grande nailed their impersonations ofTheWhite Lotusactress, 63 — complete with voluminous hair, pink outfits and pouts — the singer couldn’t help but get the giggles several times during the sketch.
Grande broke character with laughter when she and Fineman discussed what they should say if their date asked them “if we could have any superpower” and afterDana Carveyappeared as a third Coolidge and the three applied their Maybelline lip gloss on one another.
Elsewhere, Grande promised duringher monologue: “I just want to make one thing clear; I am just hosting. I’m not going to make this about me. I’m just going to have fun, take it easy and keep it low key.”
However, after being handed a microphone, she quickly launched into perfect impressions ofBritney Spears,Miley CyrusandGwen Stefani, beforeBowen Yangbriefly appeared asWicked’s Glinda and a line of dancers joined her on stage.
Grande later played a bridesmaid who couldn’t quite hit her notes in a “Bridesmaid Speech” sketch. WithHeidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim and Sarah Sherman as fellow bridesmaids, Grande sang off key about the group’s bachelorette party for Fineman’s bride, to the tune ofSabrina Carpenter’s hit “Espresso.”
