The lateAvicii’s personal items will be auctioned off for charity six years afterhis tragic death.
The performer, born Tim Bergling, released a total of three studio albums over the course of his career and embarked on three major tours. Heretired from touringtwo years before his death at age 28, citing health reasons. His hit single “Wake Me Up” from his 2013 album True peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 54 weeks on the chart.

The live auction will occur on Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. local time at the historic auction house Nybrogatan 32 in Stockholm, as well as online. The auction items will be revealed on Sept. 6, with a viewing for the local public from Sept. 24-20.
According toRolling Stone, the Tim Bergling Foundation was launched posthumously in 2019. The organization sets to continue Avicii’s avid philanthropic work – which included raising funds for charities House of Hunger, Feed for America and RED. The charity “advocates for the recognition of suicide as a global health crisis and actively works to remove the stigma attached to suicide and mental health issues,” per thewebsite.
The auction housepostedabout the upcoming event on Instagram with a quote attributed to the DJ that read, “I discovered when I started making money that I didn’t really need it. When you have such an excess of money you don’t need, the most sensible, most human and completely obvious thing is to give to people in need.”
The post included another quote from Gave, in which she called the auction “unique and special,” and said that auction house is “honored to support such an impactful cause.”

After Avicii’s death, his family released a statementimplying the star died from suicide.
The musician’s family called him “a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions” and “an over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.”
The statement continued, “When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most — music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
