Barack Obamais sharing his annual Summer 2024 playlist — and it’s a mix of old and new.
And while the former president might be known for his annual selections in music, television, and film, he says it’s his daughters who help influence what’s on his playlist.
Speaking to influencer Carter Gregory (thecarterb) in a new video, the 63-year-old former president saysSashaandMaliahave helped ensure his musical horizons are expanded and up-to-date.
“I get referrals from my daughters — which keeps me not stuck in the ’80s,” the former president tells Gregory.
While Gregory explains the music he’s dancing to lately, Obama says, “I’m not sure that I’d be dancing as well as you. I’ve got moves … but I try to stay in my lane.”
“I’ve got some newer stuff, some older stuff. I tend to mix it up,” the former president says of his current playlist.
Among the former president’s favorite tunes of late are Calimossa’s “What’s in the Tea,” and Robert Glasper’s “Over,” which he listens to in the vide with Gregory, offering a few (seated) dance moves along the way.
Elsewhere in the video, Obama pushes viewers to get registered to vote.
“The fact is, your voice needs to be heard. You need to participate, and it’s easy to do,” Obama says, imploring TikTok viewers to register oniwillvote.com.

“I can’t have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you. This is going to be historic,” Michelle says in the video.
Barack adds: “Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office.”
