The 10-episode psychological thriller, debuting Friday, Oct. 25, follows Eli (Crystal), a child psychologist who loses his wife Lynn (Judith Light) and “encounters a troubled young boy, Noah (Jacobi Jupe), who seems to have a haunting connection to Eli’s past,” according to the synopsis. The description hints, “as Eli attempts to help Noah, their mysterious bond deepens.”

“A former patient, or…” wonders Eli’s therapist.

“No, a total stranger,” he replies. “It’s weird, right? My life has turned into a [Salvador] Dalí painting.”

After a pause, his therapist asks why Elis is here.

“Is that an existential question?” he asks.

“No, it’s a practical one,” she responds. “Every week you show up voluntarily only to spend the whole 50 minutes talking about pretty much everythingotherthan how you really feel.”“Or… maybe there’s just nothing to say,” Eli muses.

“Or maybe you’re in denial,” she gently pushes back.

“Of course I’m in denial. I’msupposedto be in denial, but it won’t last,” he acknowledges. “So can I just enjoy it for now?”

His therapist furrows her brows, wondering if he’s “enjoying it.”

“Not especially,” Eli says matter-of-factly, before the clip cuts to black.

In addition to Crystal and Light, theBeforecast also includesRosie Perezas Noah’s foster mother, Maria Dizzia and Ava Lalezarzadeh. Crystal serves as an executive producer, alongside Eric Roth and directors Adam Bernstein and Jet Wilkinson.
