Ben Affleck Is 'Very Focused' After Jennifer Lopez's Divorce Filing: 'Great When It Comes to the Kids' (Source)

Ben Affleckremains dedicated to his work and kids afterJennifer Lopezfiled for divorce.

A source tells PEOPLE that Affleck, 52, is “doing well and is very focused” in the wake of Lopez’s divorce filing, which came aftermonths of speculationthat their marriage was on the rocks.

“He thrives when he has work projects. He’s been great when it comes to the kids too. He’s doing exactly what he wants,” the source says. “He seems very happy.”

The source adds that Affleck felt he was “done with his marriage” when he first moved into a rental home in Los Angeles separately from where he and Lopez, 55, were living together.

Insiders first told PEOPLE the pair wereliving aparton May 17; Lopez listed their date of separation as April 26 when she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

“You could tell that he was upset about it though,” the source says of Affleck’s decision to move out. “He knew he was letting [Lopez] down. He felt very bad about it.”

The source adds, “He and [Lopez] just have very different lifestyles. He realized he would never be happy with her lifestyle. And he didn’t expect it to change.”

A different source adds that Affleck can be “very moody and dark at times,” whereas Lopez “appreciates life in another way. She’s very grateful for everything.”
