Boyz II Men Will Perform a 'Pretty Sexy' National Anthem at the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix

Boyz II Men will be singing the national anthem atthe Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal.

The group iswell-acquainted with Las Vegas, having had residencies at multiple Strip hotels over the years, but this time they’ll actually beonthe Strip, singing the kickoff song at the beginning of the 3.8-mile track on Nov. 23. (No word yet on what happens when they come to the end of the road.)

“I’m not sure if F1 has ever experienced hearing a Boyz II Men anthem, but we’ve been told it’s pretty sexy,” Wanya Morris joked. “I don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to feel, but I hear it makes for a good night.”

The “On Bended Knee” singers will belt out the “Star-Spangled Banner” from the “hot track” just before drivers rev their engines and start zooming down the streets of Las Vegas at speeds of over 200 mph.

“This experience is going to be taken in and remembered for years to come,” Morris said, adding that for the group, the upcoming F1 gig ranks up there with their performances at the 1998 Super Bowl and the Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics.

“It’s something to tell our grandchildren,” he added.

In a weekend full of top music stars,Ludacris, a man who knows a bit about life in the fast (and furious) lane, will headline the stage inside the T-Mobile Zone on Saturday, Nov. 23, leading up to lights out on the track.

“Vegas is such a unique and different place for F1 to host an annual race,” Alesso told PEOPLE. “To have them racing at night under the bright lights of Vegas down the Strip is the kind of spectacle you can only expect to find in Vegas.”

No stranger to the city, the deejay has had several residency shows at nightclubs and has often played the Electronic Daisy Carnival music festival. Still, he feels F1 is an “important cultural moment.”

“F1 always brings together so many different types of people who have an intrinsic love of the sport and cars. Music is also a great connector of people,” he said. “I think the crossover between all of these different types of fans for this massive Vegas takeover will make it a really fun moment during the weekend.”
