Sugais apologizing after getting his license suspended and being fined for riding an electric scooter while intoxicated.
TheBTSmember, 31, shared in a post on Weverse that afan reshared on X(formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday, Aug. 7 that he drank some alcohol while out to dinner on Tuesday night and then “went home on an electric scooter” — violating “traffic laws” in South Korea.
“Because I had been drinking, I did not realize that using an electric scooter after drinking was against the law, and violated the road traffic laws,” he wrote, adding that he was “heavy hearted” and “sorry” after the incident.
“There were no other persons or establishments damaged during that time, but it is my responsibility to bow my head and apologize (to you) with no excuses,” Suga wrote.
“I’d like to apologize for my negligence and wrong behavior to all those whose my actions have hurt, and will be careful with my actions to make sure that things like this do not happen again,” he concluded his statement.

According to South Korea’sYonhap news agency, an officer found Suga lying on the ground after falling off his electric scooter in the Yongsan district in Seoul. The officer gave him a breathalyzer test, which revealed that his blood alcohol levels were above 0.08 percent, the legal limit, per the outlet.

BigHit Entertainment, BTS’ record label alsoissued a statementfollowing the incident on their website, writing that they “apologize for BTS member Suga’s electric kickboard accident.”
“We will take greater care to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future,” BigHit Entertainment added.
Suga is currently carrying out hismandatory military serviceafter postponing his enlistment due to touring. However, unlike the other members of BTS, he has been working as a social service agent, which is an alternative form of military service, perThe New York Times. His service is expected to be completed next June, per the outlet.
