Carrie Underwood Makes Appearance at Local Tennessee Church to Help Lead Worship Service

Carrie Underwoodlet Jesus take the wheel over the weekend when she made an appearance at a local Tennessee church.

One clip from the post sees Underwood singing passionate lyrics like, “I love You, Lord / Oh, your mercy never fails me / All my days, I’ve been held in Your hands / From the moment that I wake up, until I lay my head / Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.”

Underwood has released several faith-based songs during her career, including her 2014 Grammy-winning track “Something in the Water.” She also released an album filled with covers of traditional hymns in 2021 calledMy Savior, whichwon best roots gospel albumat the Grammy Awards the following year.

Speaking to PEOPLE about the win backstage at the ceremony, Underwood said, “This has been the greatest project that I’ve ever been a part of, been able to do. This is one thing that I’ve wanted to do.”

“Literally, my whole career, I’ve wanted to make this album, and I got to,” she added. “This just means the world to me.”

These days, Underwood is keeping busy with the next run of herReflection residencyin Las Vegas, which kicks off on Aug. 14 and concludes in the spring of 2025. It originally began with limited shows inDecember 2021and has added even more dates every year since.

The country singer will have her hands plenty full over the next couple of months as she adds a new venture to her schedule: serving as thenewest judgeonAmerican Idol. The season four winner-turned-judge will joinLuke BryanandLionel Richiefor season 23, which premieres next spring.

Underwood celebrated herAmerican Idolanniversary and her new gig on Sunday in anInstagram postcaptioned, “✨ 8/11/2004 ✨ 20 years ago I auditioned for the judges of @americanidol, and today I am now one of those judges searching for someone who wants to BE AN IDOL! It all starts with an audition…will we #CUonIDOL? 🇺🇸🎤.”
