One wedding cake topper left a baker terrified.

“The shriek I shruck when I opened this wedding cake topper,” said Mason ofTreat Yo' Self Bakerybefore immediately taking out the doll’s batteries in a viral video posted onTikTok. “You said this was a cute doll as your topper, not something that will eat my soul!”

Mason, who opened his bakery alongside his husband Alex in 2019, says he has worked in bakeries his whole life and has been creating cakes for about 15 years. He has “embraced every quirky request and oddball idea,” but this decoration was something he had never seen before on a wedding cake.

“I love spooky and weird cake requests! Halloween weddings are super rare, so I was thrilled to dive into something this unique,” Mason tells PEOPLE. “The bride and groom wanted this whole Gothic, vintage vibe for their cake and gave me full creative freedom — which is basically a baker’s dream.”

He continues, “When I asked if they had a topper or flowers in mind, they casually mentioned bringing in one of their favorite dolls. I was imagining a cute, quirky topper, maybe something custom… not the mini horror movie doll that showed up! My brain didn’t quite connect that it would look like something that crawled out of a haunted attic. I couldn’t help but shriek when I saw it — it was creepy but hilarious at the same time!”

Mason decorated the tombstone-gray cake with vintage pipework. For a scary twist, he added blood-red drip swoops around each of the two tiers before positioning the “Annabelle-looking topper” to the top of the cake.

“I’m just trusting the creepy divas it’ll all come together,” he said in his TikTok video before adding, “There’s nothing basic about getting married in a cemetery, so it needs to be giving like bewitched burial bride realness.”

He tells PEOPLE, “I wanted to balance their vision with something classy, even if it was on the spooky side. It took about an hour from start to finish, blending that vintage trend with a blood-red drip — usually more for slasher or horror-themed cakes, but here, I made it look delicate and elegant. It was a first for me, but I’m so glad I took the risk to make it all work.”

“The couple loved it, and the color scheme was exactly what they’d hoped for. They were nervous about ordering a ‘cemetery wedding’ cake, but I assured them I’d bring their vision to life, especially since I’m a bit quirky and weird myself, so it felt like the perfect fit!” Mason continues. “But let me tell you, delivering a wedding cake to a cemetery was a first — I’ve never delivered a wedding cake so fast in my life!

The latter sentiment echoes what the baker said on TikTok: “I’m getting this thing out of here before I need to order some holy water from Amazon!”
