David Fosteris over the moon about his daughtersErin FosterandSara Foster’s new show,Nobody Wants This.

The Netflix series, starringKristen BellandAdam Brody, follows “Hot Rabbi” Noah (Brody) and podcaster Joanne (Bell) as they navigate an unconventional romance with more than its fair share of skeptics.

“I thought it was fantastic. They’ve been working on it for five years, Erin and Sara,” he toldE! Newsat the Carousel of Hope Ball on Oct. 5. “As a father, it’s amazing, like she knows what that feeling is like, the feeling that I’ve been fortunate to have."

“I mean, they’ve had success, obviously, and they’ve done so well, but this is kind of next level,” he added.

David also told the outlet how he sees bits and pieces of his daughters in their work, comparing Bell’s character Joanne to Erin.

“I think [Joanne’s] a lot like Erin,” said David, who hasfive children— Allison, 54, Amy, 51, Sara, 43, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 37 — from previous relationships, and shares son Rennie, 3, withKatharine McPhee. “I could be wrong, but I know Erin wrote most of the lines. I think I can pick out every line that she wrote, I know her so well.”

The season finale ofNobody Wants Thisended on aprecarious note, which is why Erin previously said she’s a big advocate of a second season, she toldIndieWirein September.

“I think the conversations have definitely started to happen about a potential season 2,” she told the outlet. “The story in season 1 unfolds really slowly. And so I think if there is a season 2 I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves. I mean, I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!”

Erin also told theLos Angeles Timesin a separate interview thatthe storyline of the Netflix rom-com was very intentional amid growing backlash that it wasn’t an accurate portrayal of Jewish women.

“I think we need positive Jewish stories right now,” she explained. “I think it’s interesting when people focus on, ‘Oh, this is a stereotype of Jewish people,’ when you have a rabbi as the lead. A hot, cool, young rabbi who smokes weed. That’s the antithesis of how people view a Jewish rabbi, right?”

Erin added that she hopes the 10-episode season will offer a more lighthearted take on Jewish culture while still educating viewers on its challenges. “What I really wanted to do was shed a positive light on Jewish culture from my perspective — my positive experience being brought into Jewish culture, sprinkling in a little fun [and] educational moments about things in Judaism that I love without it being heavy-handed,” she said. “Because I don’t think people want that in the show.”
