Representatives from the Florida Highway Patrol did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

“If the car [doesn’t] stop over there on the fence, I cannot talk to you now. … [The driver] was scared, but when we took him out, I said ‘Oye, you feel good? You feel good?’ He said, ‘Yeah, I feel good,’ " Martinez said of how he and other good Samaritans assisted.

PerWSVN, local fire rescue officials confirmed that the driver of the green Toyota SUV was in “completely stable” condition and was transported to a local trauma center as a precaution.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
