The Kingsport Fire Department said that after she was discovered, Athena was “happily removed from the tree,” and then rescuers fed her.
Local outletWCYBdocumented the dog’s emotional reunion with her owners, capturing footage of the excited canine giving kisses to owners Allie and TJ Faulkner and their kids.
TJ told WCYB that those who helped rescue Athena “put a light at the end of the tunnel.”
“It’s like another member of our family; it’s like another child,” he said of the pup. “She means a lot to us.”
