On Wednesday, Aug. 14, the rapper, 65, boosted ParalympianNick Mayhugh’s GoFundMeto help his parents join him in Paris for the sports event.

“THIS is just one of the many @gofundme for the @Olympics and @Paralympics that I support,” Flavposted on X (formerly known as Twitter)about the games that will take place between August 28-Sept. 8. “Imagine spending 18 years taking ya kid to every practice and game and working 2-3 jobs to buy equipment,,, and then not being able to watch them play the biggest game of they life.”

The “Fight the Power” musician posted in response to Mayhugh’soriginal tweetthat read, “HELP SEND MY PARENTS TO PARIS! I created a@gofundmeto help pay for expenses to send my parents to the#Paralympics! They’ve never been out of the country, & couldn’t watch me compete in Tokyo due to COVID. Any & all donations are appreciated!”

It appears that Flav donated $100 under his real name (William Drayton, Jr.). The fundraiser has raised over $11,000 since it launched on July 25.

“I am humbly asking for any and everyone’s help to get my parents over to Paris to watch me compete for Team USA and bringing home more gold medals!” he wrote in the caption of his GoFundMe.

The “Don’t Believe the Hype” performerpreviously spoke to PEOPLEabout why he decided to sponsor the team — a reason that stemmed from learning that many of the team members work multiple jobs in order to get to the Olympics.

“There’s a lot of women, I’m saying that all they want is just a chance,” Flav said. “And all they want to do is feel like they got a chance. So I just wanted to help out, and help give women that chance that they are looking for.”
