Neighbors pulled her from the rubble, and she was transported to a local hospital with a foot injury and a bruised back, according to the station.
As Huston recovers from the harrowing incident, her family members — including her 22-year-old great-grandson Rylee — are marveling at the matriarch’s resilient nature.
“She’s a strong, independent, stubborn woman,” Rylee told WPBF. “She is amazing.”

With her home and most of her belongings destroyed in the Oct. 9 storm, the family is raising money to help Huston move forward.

In a GoFundMe, Rylee wrote that his great-grandmother “had to leave her entire life’s worth of history behind in the rubble.”
And the centenarian is determined to continue her independence streak.
“If we do decide to rebuild, we will be able to help her best we can, but that is currently not exactly a finite plan right now,” Huston toldTreasure Coast Newspapers. “It could be anything from a condo to her own place, but definitely not any kind of assisted living or nursing homes at this moment in time.”
