The trio also opened up about the constant requests for a spinoff or revival, especially since many of its viewers weren’t even born yet when the show aired.
“We get that a lot,” Kauffman chimed in. “I get emails about it all the time. Everybody has a great idea, and the great idea is: their kids, grown up, doing aFriendsshow.”
“Oh, no. No, no, no,” Crane said of the possibility of a reboot.
The cast also recentlylost one of their own— Perry was founddead face down in his jacuzzion Oct. 29, 2023. A medical examiner determined the actor died of “acute effects of ketamine” — and the creators said his absence would leave viewers feeling like something was missing on a reboot.
“He’d been fighting the good fight for so long,” Bright said of the actor’s struggle with substance abuse, “and it really did feel like, from the [2021] reunion, that he had finally found some peace.”
“It’s a huge loss, and it does make the 30th a little fraught,” Kauffman added.
For now,Friendsfans will have to relive the joys of the show through TheFriendsExperiences and 30th anniversary bonus content.Friendscan also be streamed on Max.
