A second post from the same fan featured a black-and-white photo of Rowlands and her late filmmaker husband John Cassavetes — Nick’s father — in their movieOpening Night.

John, with whom Rowlands shared son Nick and daughters Alexandra and Zoe, died in 1989 at the age of 59 from complications of cirrhosis.

“Another great team reunited! RIP Gena Rowlands,” the shared post was captioned.

Rowlands remarried in 2012 to retired businessman Robert Forrest.

Nick alsoreposted a Storyfrom producer Dajana Gudic, with whom he worked on 2023 filmImpulse, who shared a black-and-white photo of Rowlands in her younger years.

“I never got a chance to meet her, but the way she raised her son, my dear friend @paul_smenus says everything about her. Rest in peace beautiful soul, Gena Rowlands,” Gudic wrote, adding a series of white heart emojis to her caption.

In June, Nick toldEntertainment Weeklythat his mother had beendiagnosed with Alzheimer’s diseasefive years ago.

The pair worked together on 2004 filmThe Notebook, with Nick directing his mother in her role as an older Allie, which became one of her best known roles.
