In October 2024, the rapperannounced the couple’s break upon Instagram.

“After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. The decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us,” he wrote.

TheColor Purpleactress and DDG first connected through social media before going public with their romance in March 2022.

March 2022: Halle Bailey and DDG go public with their relationship

After sparking dating rumors in January 2022, when they were spotted atUsher’s Las Vegas residency, DDG went public with their relationship as he wished Bailey a happy birthday. “Happy Birthday to the beautifulest, the flyest, the sweetest. Love you forever,” he captioned the since-deleted post.

June 26, 2022: Halle Bailey and DDG make their red carpet debut

A few months after going Instagram official, Bailey and DDG made their red carpet as a couple at 2022 BET Awards. The couple held hands and dressed in coordinating black looks with statement necklaces.

August 11, 2022: DDG supports Halle Bailey atVarietyPower of Young Hollywood Event

In August 2022, DDG showed his support for Bailey at theVariety’s Power of Young Hollywood issue, in which she was featured. During theVarietyevent in Hollywood, the couple was all smiles as they shared a hug in front of Bailey’s cover.

August 22, 2022: Halle Bailey says she’s in love with DDG

As Bailey graced the cover ofEssence’s September/October 2022 issue with her sister Chloe,she briefly addressed her relationship with DDG. In addition to revealing how their romance first came to be, she was also asked about the current state of their relationship.

When asked whether she was in love, she confirmed, “Yes. For sure I am.”

August 26, 2022: Halle Bailey stars in DDG’s ‘If I Want You’ music video

That same month, Bailey and DDG shared the screen as theactress appeared in his music videofor “If I Want You,” where they were shown locking lips.

October 7, 2022: DDG says he’s proud of Halle Bailey’s role inThe Little Mermaid

While speaking with PEOPLE about his new album​​It’s Not Me, It’s You, the rapper commented onhis girlfriend’s upcoming role inThe Little Mermaid, in which she plays the titular role of Ariel.

“I’m very proud of her. And I’m just happy to see it,” DDG said of Bailey’s historic role. “I feel like sometimes I’m even more excited than anybody else. Just seeing it and seeing everything that she dreamed of coming to life, it’s really dope.”

May 17, 2023: Halle Bailey opens up about her relationship with DDG

While promotingThe Little Mermaid, Baileyopened up to PEOPLE about her fairytale romance with DDG. When asked whether her love has the makings of a real Prince Charming (or Prince Eric, for that matter), Bailey offered a sweet smile and a laugh. “People love to talk about this,” she said, before adding, “Yeah. I would say that.”

“I think the best thing about young love is that you’re able to continue to find yourself through this journey of loving somebody else,” she continued. “And you’re discovering new parts of yourself and maybe things that you didn’t notice before about your heart.”

July 14, 2023: DDG appears to reference Halle Bailey in ‘Famous’ song

In July 2023, DDG made headlines ashe seemingly called out Baileyin his new song “Famous,” in which he raps about feeling “insecure” about her interactions with her male costar inThe Little Mermaidand her newfound fame.

In one part of the song, he alluded to Bailey kissing her costarJonah Hauer-Kingin the film with the lyrics, “Filmin' a movie now you kissing dudes / You know I love you a lot / I don’t give a f— if that s— for promo / I don’t wanna see this s— no more.”

The rapper also seemingly addressed his feelings toward Bailey holding hands with Hauer-King during the U.K. premiere of their movie. “Why is y’all holdin' hands in the photo? / You know I’m insecure, that’s a no-no,” he sang.

The “Well Off” performer then appeared to describe his complicated feelings for Bailey as she rose to fame in the chorus of the song.

He rapped in the chorus, “Fall in love, I hate that s— / Knockin' me off my grind, I can’t f— with relationships / I ain’t even got enough time in a day for me to chase a bitch / I don’t even ask for much, I ask you to do the basic s— / Hardest thing I did was fall in love with a famous bitch.”

September 5, 2023: Halle Bailey reveals how DDG inspired her new album

“All musical inspiration really just comes from life experiences,” she told the publication. “Love has been a really big one for me too, because that’s something I’m experiencing for the first time, and it’s, like, ‘whoa’ in your brain. It’s just fireworks, a spark for creativity.”

She went on to clarify the seriousness of their connection: “You know, you have puppy love experiences, you think that’s love. But this is my first deep, deep, real love.”

During her acceptance speech and after the ceremony on social media, the actress/singer shared how grateful she was to be recognized and how challenging it can be as a public figure.

“This is such a special honor to me and feels oh so amazing to be recognized for the work that I have put in all the years of my career,” she wrote on social media. “being a young woman in the spotlight is definitely not for the weak.. but because of God, my loved ones and mentors I am able to face the world everyday with my head held high.”

In November 2023, Bailey brieflyresponded to speculation about her personal lifeas she called out commenters who said she had a “pregnancy nose” in a recent photo. “Listen, if I see one more person say something about my nose one more time, it’s going to be hell to pay,” Bailey said in a video share to Instagram.

“You know why? Because I’m Black. I love my nose,” she continued. “What are you concerned about my nose for? Leave me the hell alone.”

December 2023: Halle Bailey and DDG celebrate Christmas together

In December 2023,Bailey and DDG celebrated the holidays togetherwhile wearing matching Christmas pajamas. The rapper took to Snapchat to share various clips from their festivities, including the two lavish gifts he gave Bailey.

In addition to surprising her with a Tiffany bracelet, he also gave Bailey a black Birkin bag inside, which DDG explained in text over the video was “her dream gift.”

January 6, 2024: Halle Bailey announces the birth of her son with DDG

After ringing in the New Year, Bailey publicly announcedthe birth of her and DDG’s son Halo. “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️,” she captioned the photo of her holding her newborn’s small hand.

January 7, 2024: DDG opens up about becoming a first-time parent with Halle Bailey

A day after Bailey announced the arrival of their son, DDG posted a video to YouTube in whichhe opened up about parenthoodfor the first time. The rapper shared details about his journey into fatherhood, calling the actress a “great mom.”

Later in the clip, he said “she’s a professional mom,” and added that their newly minted family of three are “doing great.”

October 3, 2024: DDG announces his split from Halle Bailey
