The actress and comedian met the band — consisting of brothersIsaac,TaylorandZac Hanson— in a hilarious segment that appeared on theTodayshow Monday, Sept. 30.
After appearing a bit flustered as she shook the guys' hands, McKinnon, 40, said she has always admired Hanson’s “musicianship” and revealed that her favorite song of theirs is the Zac-led ballad"Go,“from their 2007 albumThe Walk.
“It’s so beautiful, thematically and musically. The harmony’s so tight,” said theBarbiestar.

The band first gained international stardom with their 1997 debut albumMiddle of Nowhere, which which reached No. 2 on theBillboard200that year. The album catapulted them to fame thanks to their debut single “MMMBop” and follow-ups including “Where’s the Love” and “Weird.”
Hanson, who are the oldest of seven children and based out of Tulsa, Okla., started making music in 1992, when Zac was just 6 years old. They have released a total of 11 studio albums, including two Christmas offerings.
They are also getting ready to embark on theirUnderneath:Experience Tour, which kicks off Thursday, Oct. 3, and runs through Nov. 11. The tour will celebrated 20 years sinceUnderneath, the first album released undertheir independent record label, 3CG Records.

In a recent chat with PEOPLE during the Old Navy & The Cut Host 90s Throwback Party on Sept. 9 in New York City, Isaac, 43, Taylor, 41, and Zac, 38, told PEOPLE that they are"proud of where we’ve come from"after 30-plus years as a band.
“You never want to live in the past, but your origin is what it is. It’s where you came [from] and there was a lot of great music," they continued. “Rock bands, pop bands, Hip-Hop, R&B, all happening at once. And the way the Top 40 was, it was definitely like a hop."
Added Hanson, “We took No. 1 fromNotorious B.I.G.That’s what [the music scene] looked like.”
