HBO'sHarry PotterSeries Announces Open Call for Harry, Ron, Hermione: 'We Are Committed to Inclusive, Diverse Casting'

Casting for the newHarry Potterseries is officially open.

Aposter appealingfor budding actors and actresses has been released for HBO’s reboot series, with the network confirming the call’s authenticity toVariety.

PEOPLE has also contacted HBO for further comment.

Children between the ages of 9 and 11 are being sought after for the magical main-character trio of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.

“We are currently only able to consider children who are aged 9-11 in April 2025, and a resident of the U.K. or Ireland,” the notice read. “Please only apply if you meet the brief.”

The notice continued on to say that “qualified performers” will also be considered regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity and more.

Applicants are asked to send a 30-second-maximum first video of either a poem or short story that is not fromHarry Potter. “Please use your own accent,” the call added.

The actors and actresses are then asked to record a second, one-minute-maximum video of them speaking about themselves.

Applicants’ second videos should include “date of birth, height and where you live. In addition, please describe any family member, friend or pet that you are particularly close to. Please use your own accent.”

Meanwhile, people have until Oct. 31 to apply, with filming eventually taking place in the U.K.

News about a reboot of the series — which brought actorsDaniel Radcliffe,Rupert GrintandEmma Watsonto stardom on the big screen — wasfirst reported in April 2023.

“Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World,” HBO and Max CEO and chairman Casey Bloys said at the time.

He added, “In partnership with Warner Bros. Television andJ.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”
