Ilona Maher Pulled Off 3 Outfit Changes at 2024 Emmy Awards, Admits She's 'Extra'

Ilona Maherdazzled in three glam looks at the 2024 Emmy Awards.

“Did I make three outfit changes at the Emmys? Yes I did, because I am extra,” Maher said to the camera while showing off her after-party attire which consists of a black spaghetti strap gown with a deep v-neckline. The look also featured cut-outs on the side and was paired with pointed-toed heels and dangling gold earrings.

“And proud of it,” she captioned the fun post.

To kick start the evening, the athletehit the red carpetin a strapless midnight blue velvet peplum Oscar de la Renta gown accessorized with statement drop earrings, rings and bracelets. The upcomingDancing with the Starscompetitor then changed into a liquid-effect bodycon dress with a sculptural bodice and magenta train, which she wore when she was brought onstage to present alongside swimmerCaeleb Dresseland viral “pommel horse guy” gymnastStephen Nederoscik.

Maher wore her hair in a curled updo with face-framing pieces and rocked her signature bold red lip for all three looks.

The Team USA star spoke with PEOPLE inan exclusive interviewon the red carpet ahead of the ceremony and revealed who she thinks deserves an Emmy. “Everybody on Love Islandshould be nominated for an Emmy with the drama and the absolute sizzle they bring to the screen,” she joked.

Earlier this month, she wasannounced as a contestantfor the upcoming season ofDancing with the Stars, which returns on Sept. 17. She will be competing for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy with pro dancerAlan Bersten. Maher has grown a large following on social media since her breakout at the2024 Paris Olympicsand has passed on several inspiring messages of body positivity. She recentlyopened up about the hate she receivedwhen she was younger and how she learned to accept her body after getting a heartfelt letter from a 9-year-old fan.

“I was always a bigger girl in sixth grade,” Mahersaidin a video response. “I remember I was 130 pounds and I never understood why am I always bigger than everybody? I didn’t get that, but now I’ve realized this is my body and my body is meant to be big and powerful and strong. And I think that’s the same with you as well.”
