Investigation Into Accident That Hospitalized 8 on Set of Eddie Murphy'sThe PickupFinds No Safety Violations

An investigation into an April accident on the set ofEddie Murphy’s upcoming movieThe Pickupfound the production did not violate any safety regulations.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, a spokesperson for the Occupational Health and Safety Administration told PEOPLE its investigation of the incident and inspection, which concluded Oct. 17, “did not result in violations of workplace safety and health regulations."

A spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment.

Back in April, a spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios told PEOPLE “several members of the crew” were injured in an April 20 on-set accident, while theAssociated Pressreported at the time that no cast members, including Murphy, 63, were present on set at the time of the incident.

Days later, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed to PEOPLE thatfirst responders took eight people to hospitalsafter a two-vehicle crash on the movie’s set while the production filmed an action sequence.

The crash occurred between an armored GMC car and a BMW vehicle as the production filmed a stunt sequence, per the GSP.The New York Timespublished footage of the collision April 26 showing both vehicles flipping over and veering off a road after the collision.

GSP told PEOPLE at the time two crew members who were seated in the back of the armored car were ejected when its back doors opened, and they sustained life-threatening injuries. Five people were taken to Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital and three more were taken to WellStar Cobb Medical Center in Austell, Georgia, for treatment.

The studio told PEOPLE in an April statement that “all safety precautions were reviewed prior to and monitored during the shoot.”

A source on the movie’s production told PEOPLE at the time that they “choked up watching the video” of the incident. “It’s so traumatizing,” they said. “To know my friends who I consider family are being thrown around the back of the armored truck, it’s just so infuriating. It shouldn’t have happened.”
