Jackie Chan Smiles as He Carries the Paralympic Torch Ahead of 2024 Opening Ceremony

The 70-year-old legendary actor took to the streets of Paris on Wednesday, Aug. 28, carrying the event’s iconic flame in his inimitable style ahead of the event’s opening ceremony.

Wearing a white tracksuit and his trademark black eyeglasses, the stuntman and martial artist waved enthusiastically to the crowd on both sides of the street as he walked through the historic city.

In addition to Chan, dancer/choreographerBenjamin Millepiedand French actress Elsa Zylberstein also took part in the torch relay,according to France 24.

More than 4,000 athletes with physical, visual and intellectual impairments are participating in a  parade down the Champs-Elysees to the Place de la Concorde in central Paris,the Associated Press reported.

Among them will be Nicky Nieves and Steve Serio, who are set tolead the way as flag bearers for Team USA.

When Serio, 36, learned that he had been selected, he summed up his feelings in anInstagram Story: “United and honored.”

Over the next 11 days, athletes will compete in 22 sports. Competition begins on Thursday with the first medals set to be handed out for table tennis, taekwondo and track cycling.
