Jeff Bridges' 3 Children: All About Isabelle, Jessica and Hayley

Jeff Bridges is “The Dude” toBig Lebowskifans, but he’s just dad to his three children — Isabelle, Jessica and Hayley — with longtime wife Susan Geston.

Jeff became a father for the first time in 1981 when he and Geston welcomed Isabelle. He was already a movie star working on 1982’sTron, with over a dozen films under his belt.The Old Manactor says his successful career was a double-edged sword when it came to his family.

“You’re trying to make good movies … it’s very self-involved,” he toldThe Off Camera Showin 2019. “I’m making money so we can afford to live the way we want and the kids can go [to good] schools … but later on in my life, I’ve cried with my daughters … I’ve missed out on so much.”

“Raising them, everything happens so fast,” he added. Jeff’s proud of the women his girls grew up to be, with Isabelle being an author, Jessica working as a musician and Hayley enjoying her career in interior design. All three have had opportunities to work on projects with their father.

One thing that brought them closer than ever was Jeff’s health.Battling cancerand two bouts of COVID-19 in recent years “heightened the experience of most of my philosophies in life,” he shared with PEOPLE in 2023.

“It all gets down to that corny ‘L’ word — love,” theBad Times at the El Royalestar added. “[They] were so supportive about the cancer and COVID.It just brought to my attentionhow much they loved me, and how much I loved them.”

Jeff and Geston welcomed their first child — daughter Isabelle — on Aug. 6, 1981. Over the years, theTron: Legacyactor has said his wife did most of the work raising the girls when they were young at the family home in Santa Barbara while he was shooting films around the world.

Isabelle always admired her parents’ sweet relationship, telling PEOPLE, “They love each other, butthey like each other, they spend time together. They make an effort to ask each other questions about what the other is interested in.”

Isabelle took that inspiration into her own marriage to college sweetheart Brandon Boesch, whom she met while they attended Pepperdine University. The couple exchanged wedding vows at the family home in Santa Barbara in 2007.

“I always dreamed of getting married at our house,” Isabelle toldInside Weddings. “I’ve known that I was going to get married on 7/7/07 since high school. I don’t know how I knew, but I just did!”

Over a decade later, they’re still going strong. ”16 years ago I married my best friend,” Isabelle wrote onInstagramin 2023. “We made a life, babies and magic together. I’m so in love! 😘♥️🥰.”

The duo turned theTrue Gritstar and Geston into grandparents with their two children: Gracie and Ben. The kidslovingly call Jeff “Dudie”or “Dude-pa.”

These days, Isabelle and her family live in the Bay Area, where she works on her own business, The Mother’s Empowerment Sisterhood. She’s also a children’s book author, releasing her first title,Daddy Daughter Day, in 2020. Jeffserved as the illustratoron the project that shared Isabelle’s memories with him.

“Like my father, I was away for much of Isabelle’s childhood due to my work and making movies, and so I try to do my best to try and make up for some of that,” he told Billy Shore of theShare Our Strengthpodcast. “For some reason, we need reasons to get together, and this was a great reason to get together with my daughter … [it was] a lot of fun!”

Jessica Lily Bridges, 41

Jessica was born on June 14, 1983, and while not much is known about her childhood and teen years, Jeff shared that he once brought his girls ontoThe Big Lebowskiset.

“I thought [it] would be fun,” he said onThe Off Camera Show. “The girls came, and I put the bowling pin hats on them, and I took a bunch of pictures of them.”

Unfortunately, the scene turned out to be embarrassingly raunchy. “I thought, ‘Why the hell did I invite my girls and my wife to come for that particular scene?’ ” he recalled. “What was I thinking, man?!”

Jessica was the only daughter to follow her father into the entertainment industry. “Jessie, my middle daughter, we play music all the time; she opens for me sometimes, and we play music; that’s our connection,” he said of their relationship.

In herInstagrambio, she echos this passion. “Music is the thing that makes me feel the most alive — listening to it, creating it, witnessing it!” it reads.

Hayley Roselouise Bridges, 39

According to Hayley, after their family settled in Santa Barbara in 1994, they began traveling more and she got to experience different cultures in fascinating environments. It inspired her to pursue interior design after she graduated from Loyola Marymount University.

On Instagram, she posts about her business, Hayley Bridges Design, and the transformations she helps bring to life, fromelegant living roomstorelaxing outdoor spaces.

Hayley was a huge supporter of Jeff’s while going through hisnon-Hodgkin lymphomabattle in October 2020 and dealing with COVID-19 in January 2021. His daughter’s impending nuptials were a major driving force in his healing journey, as he dreamt of walking her down the aisle.

“The first goal was how long can I stand up,” he toldThe Independentin 2022. “Finally, one day I said, ‘Maybe I can do it, you know.’ And it turns out I not only got to walk her down the aisle, butI got to do the wedding dance. That was terrific.”

Jeff even gave a sweet welcome speech that “touched on a trait of Justin’s that I also mentioned in my vows, which is that kids and dogs love him,” Hayley toldBrides. “I believe this to be an example of his wonderful energy.”
