Jennifer Garner Shares How Molly Sims Helped Her When She Burst Into Tears at a Party: 'You Were Safe' (Exclusive)

Molly Simsdoesn’t take friendship lightly — at least according toJennifer Garner.

Garner appears on the Tuesday, Nov. 12 episode of theLipstick on the Rimpodcast, which Sims cohosts with best friend Emese Gormley. During the conversation, the women discussed everything fromchildhood nutritionto coping with personal loss.

When asked how she stays “positive,” the13 Going on 30actress, 52, replied, “Molly, of all people you know better than anyone that I don’t all the time,” going on to reveal that Sims once helped her through a tough personal moment.

“… I remember you throwing a party and I — I walked in and I just was not ready to be around people for whatever I was going through at the time,” Garner recalled. “And I got super, super weepy and emotional, and you just stopped and helped me and said, ‘What do you need to do?’ “

“And I said, ‘I think I should go home,’ and you were like, ‘Okay, great. Let me walk you to your car,’ " theElektrastar continued, adding, “and you gave me a hug and you sent me on my way. And that was exactly [it].”

“We just — we need each other, and we also need to give ourselves and each other permission to be where we are,” she concluded.

Garner also stressed the importance of self-acceptance in moments when we are not feeling our best.

“ … we have to allow ourselves to not be perfect all the time, to not be in the mood all the time, to not be smiley,” theAliasstar said.

“I have to box in it just for a minute,” she told the hosts. “But you can’t box for a minute without like a month or two of hard training,” she explained, adding, “It’s just the hardest thing in the world.”

“I love going to meet the Stemmelt family who grow our apples, or the spinach people, or [the] manufacturing plants,” she shared. “And I love going to retailers and love having — I just like relationships. I like knowing people, you know?”
