Jennifer Hudson Jokingly Confronts Boyfriend Common for Speaking Publicly About Potential Marriage: 'What's That About?'

After the rapper, 52, spoke about the idea of tying the knot with Hudson, 43, in an interview over the summer, the EGOT holder confronted him in front of an audience on the Oct. 3 episode ofThe Jennifer Hudson Show.

During a July interview withThe Breakfast Club, Common spoke candidly about his “really healthy and beautiful relationship” with Hudson, telling the radio program, “If I’m going to get married, it’s to her.”

“I heard you’ve been even out there talking about marriage,” said Hudson. “What’s that about? I just happened to notice that.”

Common stuck true to his word. “You know what, you told me a quote that your mother said, ‘A man knows what he wants,’” he responded. “I was saying my true feelings about, listen, Jennifer is the person.”

The “Glory” musician added, “If I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson. I was just being honest.”

After sparking dating rumors in August 2022, the pair confirmed their relationship during an episode ofThe Jennifer Hudson Showin January.

Elsewhere during Common’s Oct. 3 appearance on the show, he presented Hudson with a couple gifts. “Jennifer like gifts,” said the artist. “She got a different love language, but she like gifts.”

Of her boyfriend’s love language, Hudson replied, “He like affirmations and words and things like that.”

The first gift was a hummingbird-shaped piece of jewelry, which she loved. “I feel like it’s still my birthday,” said theAmerican Idolalum, who celebrated her latest trip around the sun on Sept. 12.

Finally, Common gave her a blanket embroidered with Hudson’s upcoming holiday album title,The Gift of Love.

Common and Pete Rock’sThe Auditorium Vol. 1is out now, while Hudson’sThe Gift of Lovecomes out Oct. 18. Her boyfriend will feature on the original song, “Almost Christmas.”
