Jennifer Lopez Wants 'Quality Time' with Ben Affleck's Kids Before Back to School, Violet to College: Source

Jennifer Lopezis hoping to get some extra time in withBen Affleck’s kids before they head back to school, a source tells PEOPLE.

The singer, 55, “wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes and Violet is off to college,” says the source. Affleck and ex-wifeJennifer Garnershare Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, while Lopez has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

“Just because she’s not with Ben, doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care about his kids. She always cared about them,” adds the insider. “She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year.”

A source previously told PEOPLE on Aug. 6 that Lopez and Affleckhadn’t seen each other “in weeks.” Added that source, “They’re moving on separately.Jennifer is trying to find a new hometo start fresh.”

The couple has spent most of the summer apart as Lopez has been vacationing in both Europe and the Hamptons, New York while Ben was filming his upcoming sequelThe Accountant 2in Los Angeles.

Last month, the couple were on separate coasts for both theirtwo-year anniversaryandLopez’s birthday.

On Friday, Aug. 9, Violet stepped out in what looks to be thesame Dolce & Gabbana dress that Lopez once wore for a date nightwith Ben, 51.

Violet was spotted out and about in Brentwood, Calif. wearing the pink-and-white chiffon gown with long sleeves, romantic pleating and a wrap neckline. Lopez had previously worn the dress for a2023 Valentine’s Day date nightwith husband Ben.

A source told PEOPLE at the time that Lopez and Violet “really enjoy each other’s company.”

“They both seem so happy to be spending this time together, and are just enjoying the moment,” said the insider.

On Aug. 9, a source told PEOPLE thatBen was “doing well.”

“He thrives when he’s busy and he’s been working nonstop,” the source said. “The kids are still off from school. He spends a lot of time with them, too.”
