Now that she’s been sitting in the passenger seat as Zoie begins to drive, Sweetin says she actually doesn’t panic too much with her daughter behind the wheel.

“To be honest, she’s actually a pretty good driver,” the mom of two admits. “Maybe sometimes I might even get almost a little too comfortable, and I’m like, ‘Oh no, no. Stop, stop stop.’ But yeah, weirdly feels like normal, but it also feels like, ‘How did we get here so fast?’ But I am adjusting.”

Sweetin’s younger daughter Beatrix, 13, whom she shares with ex Morty Coyle, is also hitting a major milestone as the 13-year-old has entered her freshman year of high school. Although the two sisters are going to different schools, Sweetin says they’re closer than ever.

“They have really grown closer over the last couple of years,” she tells PEOPLE. “I think now that they’re both through the awkward middle school stage, I feel like they’re coming through and finding each other as friends again. Because it was rough, it was rough there for a minute.”

“The older one was like, ‘No, I claim ownership of all of these things.’ And you’re like, ‘You’re two years apart, you’re totally the same demographic,’ " Sweetin jokes. “That was kind of the thing, like, you don’t own whatever it was at the time,Billie Eilishor this.”

“But now it’s a bonding thing, if they listen to stuff. And they have their own separate things, so it’s good,” she adds.

With two teenagers in her house, Sweetin has had to add a few new rules to her repertoire, especially when it comes to cellphones.

“I think as a parent, sometimes you’re a little bit delusional. You’re like, ‘No, they’ll get done what they need to get done.’ And you’re like, ‘I don’t want to have the same fight again, so I’m just going to trust you,’ " Sweetin says.

“And they’re like, ‘Mom’s going to give up.’ And so this time, I’m like, ‘That’s it. [I want] the phone in my hand as soon as you walk in the door from school. And it’s mine and then you have to earn the time back.’ So we’re just adjusting to that, much to everyone’s disappointment in the house.”
