Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner Speak Out After Reaching Temporary Custody Agreement

Joe JonasandSophie Turnerare prioritizing their two daughters following their split.

Last week, the singer, 35, and actress, 28,reached a settlement agreement. The agreement came one year after Jonas filed for divorce and the terms were confidential.

A source tells PEOPLE on Wednesday, Sept. 11, that after a back-and-forth battle over custody of their daughters Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2, the exes are peacefully co-parenting.

“They turned things around from the initial messy custody battle," the source says. “They are friendly and great co-parents now.”

The source says the two have “decided to focus on what’s best for their girls. The divorce was difficult for all of them.”

AfterJonas filed for divorcefrom Turner on Sept. 5, 2023, the two became involved in a contentious dispute when it came to custody of their daughters.

TheGame of Thronesalum sued Jonas in a Manhattan court two weeks after his divorce filing,calling for their children to be returned to Englandafter they were “wrongfully removed.” She alleged in her filing that she and the musician had previously agreed England would be their “forever home.”

Jonas and Turnerreached a temporary custody agreementin October 2023 followinga four-day mediation.

“After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the U.K.,” they said in ajoint statement. “We look forward to being great co-parents.”

Turner later opened up about the custody battle during an interview forBritish Vogue’sMay 2024 issue. She confessed thatshe was “unhappy” about how it “played out, especially when it comes to my children. They’re the victims in all of this. But I think we’re doing the best we can. I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all that I can ask for.”
