The proud parents welcomed their first child, daughterLuna Simone, in April 2016. Teigen then gave birth to the couple’s first son,Miles Theodore, in May 2018.

In August 2023, Teigen opened up to PEOPLE aboutbeing a mom to four kids.

“For me, the hardest part is making sure the older ones feel loved and taken care of and just as special as the babies,” she said. “There’s a lot of diaper changing and feeding and it seems like you’re coddling these two little babies and they’re not getting enough. I think any parent of multiple kids can understand that you want to make sure they still feel loved.”

Legend’s love for his wife and kids inspired him to write a children’s album titledMy Favorite Dream.

“I want our babies AND yours to find joy and inspiration and comfort from this music,” the singer wrote on Instagram in August 2024. “I hope it helps them fall in love with music and helps them cope with all the worries and challenges they may have.”

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Luna Simone Stephens, on April 14, 2016. Ahead of her daughter’s birth, Teigen spoke with PEOPLE about her IVF journey. “I’ve made this decision,“Teigen said. “Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let’s put in the girl.’ "

Inher 2021 cover story for PEOPLE’s Beautiful Issue, Teigen shared how she’s teaching Luna about the “beauty” of imperfections. “She is a bit of a perfectionist which I didn’t know I was until the past few years,” Teigen said.

“I’m trying to tell her that not everything — it’s funny because when I talk to her, I’m actually talking to myself too — not everything has to be perfect and there is joy and beauty in imperfections, and don’t be so hard on yourself. And that’s me talking to myself when I tell her that stuff,” she added.

The little one also likes to keep her famous dad humble.Legend revealed to PEOPLEthat he isn’t Luna’s top-favorite artist: “I’m probably second or third for Luna.”

The singer added, “Luna likes a lot of girl pop and R&B. She likesRihanna,Ariana Grande,Selena Gomezand people like that. Chrissy and Luna’s tastes are similar.” Luna will, however, sing along to her father’s hits in the car, Legend revealed.

Legend celebrated Luna’s 8th birthday in April 2024, sharing photos of his daughter and a sweet caption onInstagram.

“Luna made us parents8 years ago today and she’s truly the best daughter we could ask for. We love you to the moon and back, my brilliant girl!” he wrote.

In August 2024, Legend told PEOPLE that Luna has designed the single art for his upcoming children’s album,My Favorite Dream.

“I’ve had Lunadesign the single artfor each of my singles from the children’s album I’ve been working on. That’s been pretty cool. Having my daughter design my single covers was definitely a first,” he said.

Legend also shared that Luna, Miles, and their mom also contributed their vocal talents to the first single, “L-O-V-E,” when he showed off his daughter’s artwork onInstagram.

“The first single is the signature anthem for the album. It’s called ‘L-O-V-E’ and it features Chrissy, Luna, and Miles singing backing vocals (Luna’s & Miles’s first album credit!),” he wrote.

Inher 2021 PEOPLE cover story, Teigen revealed how she’s teaching Miles to “embrace” his “emotions” as a then-2-year-old.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve, and we embrace that. I think more men should embrace their emotions,” she told PEOPLE. “I think that’s really important in this world. That it’s okay to cry, and it’s okay to be upset about something or to be sad about something. We’re going to talk it through and it’s okay.”

“There is no ‘Be a man’ in our house,” she added. “There’s no right way to be a man, and John is so good about showing them through how he treats me how to be a good man, how to be a good father. It’s wonderful to see.”

Miles is growing up to be quitea T-ball star, and his family lovescheering him on. He’s also already taking after Legend when it comes to performing. Miles joined his dad at the pianoduring a Vrbo commercialwhere the singer-songwriter performed a cover of Johnny Nash’s “I Can See Clearly Now.”

Fans are also convinced that Miles and Legend are twins. The EGOT winner created a TikTok photo montage of him and Miles twinning set to his cover of Coi Leray’s viral song “Twinnem.” Legend captioned the video, “ctrl+c, ctrl+v.”

Miles didn’t miss the chance to seehis “brunch buddy” perform at the 2022Grammy Awardsin Las Vegas either. He and big sister Lunajoined their mom in the crowdas their dad took to the big stage.

When Miles isn’t watching his superstar dad perform, he’scrashing his Zoom meetings. In October 2022, Miles showed off his playful side again while posing fora fun photowith his sister. In the snap, which Legend sharedon Instagram, Miles wore a black hoodie and yellow t-shirt while he raised his hands to his chin and made an excited face. Meanwhile, Luna struck a model pose in a tulle orange skirt and brown boots.

In July 2024, Teigen shared that Miles had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes after fans noticed he was wearing a glucose monitor in photos of him and his family at the 2024 Paris Olympics that she previously posted onInstagram.

“But the doctors knewsomething else was offabout his blood tests. While making a virtual appearance onGood Morning Americain November 2020, the couple announcedtheir new charity initiativewith Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides resources and support to families with sick and injured children so they can stay together during treatment.

The parents also talked about grieving their loss. “I definitely give myself permission to have complete and utter grief,” Teigen toldGMAco-hostMichael Strahan. “Every day is so different, so when people ask me how I’m doing, I always say, ‘I’m okay, today.’ "

“I didn’t know that we could experience this grief and also share it, but when we did, it really meant so much to so many people and it was such a powerful experience for me to learn that,” Legend added. “I’m just grateful that my wife was courageous enough to do it.”

You get a thick skin, and you’re able to deal with the emotions better that come with being hurt or let down again,” she said. “But, of course, it still hurts. And, of course, you still go through it and you learn how important it is to be able to take care of yourself and go to therapy and to talk to people about any worries or anxieties you might be having.”

Legend and Teigenwelcomed their second girl, Esti Maxine, on Jan. 13, 2023. The Grammy Award-winning singer first shared the news at a private concert.

“What a blessed day,” he told the crowd just hours after Teigen had given birth.

In February 2023, Legend shared thestory behind his youngest’s name. “It turns out, my great-grandmother was named Esther,” he told E! News. “It wasn’t intentionally after someone, but once Chrissy told me that idea, I was like, ‘Oh, my great-grandmother’s name was Esther.’ "

On Instagram, Teigen explained how she always wanted four kids, but after losing Jack, she “didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own.” She and Legend ended up deciding to go through the IVF process to conceive Esti, and in the meantime, they found the “most incredible, loving, compassionate” surrogate.

“We want to say thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra,” the cookbook author wrote of her surrogate. “And we are so happy to tell the world he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephens.”
