Jordan Fisher Says He’s Going to ‘Miss’ 'Hadestown'Ahead of Next Year's Departure: ‘I'm Not Ready to Leave the Building’ (Exclusive)

The actor and musician, 30, opened up exclusively to PEOPLE at Bloomingdale’s “Wicked Good Window Unveiling” on Wednesday, Nov. 13 in New York City, sharing his feelings about his upcoming Jan. 12 departure from the award-winning show.

“I’m gonna miss it so much,” he told PEOPLE of the production, which is currently running at the Walter Kerr Theatre in N.Y.C. “Emotionally, I’m not ready to leave the building.”

Fisher explained thatHadestown— which is a modern retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydiceis — has been his favorite Broadway experience and that the cast and crew feel like “family.” He also noted that the theater’s close quarters made for one of the “most intentional and intimate theater experiences.”

Fisher went on to share that he was a fan of the show long before he joined the cast inNovember 2023, recalling that he first saw it back in 2019.

“I was like, ‘This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever experienced,’ ” he said. “I think because of the way that I felt at the end of the show. I left with hope and love and joy and the recognition that life is long and we have the opportunity to make what we want out of it.”

“I think that I needed that message when I first saw [Hadestown], and so, to be able to give that [back] now as a father, as a partner [and] as a creative, it’s really so special,” he added.

Broadway fans won’t have to wait long to see Fisher again on stage, asThe 5-Year Christmas Partystar is set to beginencore performances forUrinetownat the New York City Center in February.

“Right after I leave [Hadestown], we start rehearsals the following week,” he said of his next show.

“So, I’ll have a little bit of a break time,” he continued. “I’ll take the [family and] we’re gonna go visit some friends, I think, go ski a little bit and just kind of rest for a moment. And then right back at it.”

Fisher and hiswife Ellieshare sonRiley William Fisher, 2. Fisher previously opened up about how being a father has changed his approach to his career during a 2023 appearance onLive! with Kelly and Mark.

“It’s the most amazing thing — talk about purpose. I think that it’ll be 20 years in January that I’ve been doing this, and it’s so beautiful and I’m so grateful for it. But the way all of it shrinks when that happens,” he said of fatherhood.

“Every fact of what was important has now just shifted,” he continued. “It’s just a whole new dimension of import and of purpose.”
