Justin Theroux Is Engaged to Actress Nicole Brydon Bloom (Exclusive)

PEOPLE has confirmed that Bloom and Theroux are engaged. Theroux popped the question in Italy, where the couple is for the Venice Film Festival for the actor’s filmBeetlejuice Beetlejuice. Sheshowed off her striking engagement ring on the red carpet for the movie’s premiere.

Theroux, 53, and Bloom, 30, were first spotted together in February 2023, when they both attended a Netflix event at the New York City social club Zero Bond. The duo spent the night alongsideTan Franceand actress Louisa Jacobson, with whom Bloom works on their HBO series,The Gilded Age.

In August 2023, Theroux and Bloom wereseen sharing a kissduring a date night at the Manhattan restaurant Altro Paradiso. A couple months later, in October, the pair were photographedleaving a gym togetherin N.Y.C.

Theroux briefly discussed his preference to keep his romantic relationships private during an interview withEsquirejust a few months before their first photographed date night in August. At the time, theBeetlejuice Beetlejuicestar said it’s “much more fun not being in a public relationship.”

Before their red carpet debut atVanity Fair’s Oscars Party in March, theMulholland Driveactor joined Bloom as her date at hertwin sister’s weddingin December 2023. They later attendedNaomi WattsandBilly Crudup’snuptials in Mexico Cityin June 2024.

Theroux — who was previously married toJennifer Anistonfrom 2015 until their 2018divorce— has appeared in a number of Bloom’s social media posts sincetheir first mirror selfiesnapped at her sister’s wedding in December 2023. She also shared aphoto carouselof them in mid-August 2024.

The actor recently posted his now-fiancée on his Instagram Stories on Aug. 20, when he shared a photoshowing himself wrapping his arm around and planting a kisson Bloom’s cheek against an oceanside backdrop.

Leading up to the engagement news, Theroux and Bloom were traveling together, as she shared on her Instagram Stories with photos of the pair enjoying beautiful waterside locations. Theroux also told PEOPLE on the red carpet for the Aug. 28 Venice Film Festival premiere ofBeetlejuice Beetlejuicethat the couple planned on “vacationing a little” in addition to attending the event.
