Katie Gaudreau Speaks Out After Brothers Johnny and Matthew Are Killed on Her Wedding Eve: 'Best Big Brothers'

In an Instagrampost, Katie spoke of the immoveable “bond” between their close-knit family.

“To know these two was to love these two,” she wrote. “There are absolutely no words I have to express the bond my family shared. The entire world knows there would never have been a John without Matty or Matty without John. The absolute best big brothers a little girl could have asked for.”

Katie also included sweet photos of the three of them through the years, plus their parents and older sister, from them as kids in a family kitchen to celebrating her engagement and Johnny and Matthew’s weddings.

Matthew and NHL star Johnny, who played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, were killed around 8 p.m. on Thursday when a driversuspected of being under the influence of alcoholfatally hit both brothers, New Jersey State Police told PEOPLE. They were biking in their hometown the night before they were set to serve as groomsmen for Katie’s wedding, which wasreportedlycanceled.

“I have no words. I just miss you. I don’t know my life without you. I have never experienced a pain like this," she wrote, alongside a photo of them wrapping their arms around each other. “I am so blessed you choose me to be your wife.. to love me. you are the best thing about me. I know you are watching down in just as much pain as I am looking up. I will keep going for you and our son.”

“I love you so much Matthew,” Madeline concluded the post.

The same day,Meredith honored Johnny with two Instagram posts, one about their love for each other and another about him as a father to their two young children.

“Thank you for the best years of my life. Despite losing you, I am still the luckiest girl in the world to have been yours. I love you so so much,” she began the caption of the firstpost.

Meredith continued, adding, “You were perfect. Some days it felt too good to be true. I love every single thing about you. You are my forever and I can’t wait to be with you again. I love you so much forever and ever.”

In the secondpost, Meredith called Johnny the “absolute best dad in the world.”
