The actress, who played Glinda in the original Broadway production ofWicked,attended a screening of the new movie on Monday, Oct. 28 in New York City and later shared her thoughtson Instagram. Also in attendance wereAriana GrandeandCynthia Erivo— who play Glinda and Elphaba in the film — along with members of the currentWickedBroadway company and previous stars.
“Oh my gosh I just saw the movie and I’m dying. I’m deceased, I’m actually dead, I’m not here,” Chenoweth, 56, gushed in the Instagram Reel. “People are not going to be well when they see this film. It is so good, it is so special.”
“The story is so wonderful, and Cynthia and Ariana are amazing. The whole cast is amazing,” Chenoweth continued. “Jon Chu nailed it. I was so moved, emotional, happy, filled with joy. Please everybody go seeWicked, you’ll be blessed.”
“Y’ALL WON’T EVEN BELIEVE HOW GOOD IT IS 🫧💚🩷 I’ll never be the same!!!@wickedmovie,” Chenoweth captioned her post.
Those also in attendance at the screening included the movie’s directorJon M. Chu, Chenoweth’s husbandJosh Bryant, the movie’s composer Stephen Schwartz, Gregory Maguire, who wrote the novel, and a few more ofWicked’s original stars: Christopher Fitzgerald (Boq), Norbert Leo Butz (Fiyero) and his wife Michelle Federer (Nessarose).
There were also a sea of former Elphabas and Glindas, including Amanda Jane Cooper, Alli Mauzey, , Carrie St. Louis, Brittney Johnson, McKenzie Kurtz, Ginna Claire Mason and Katie Rose Clarke and the Broadway production’s current stars, Mary Kate Morrissey and Alexandra Socha.
Wicked, which first debuted on Broadway in 2003, puts a twist on the well-known dichotomy ofThe Wizard of Oz’s Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West. The story instead follows Elphaba — the Wicked Witch — her unlikely friendship with Glinda and the events that led her to eventually become the Wicked Witch of the West.

Ahead of the showing of the new film, the stage and screenWickedactors spoke about the story’s impact, how personally meaningful the musical has been andWicked’s continuing legacy as a common thread that connects them.
The movies’s latest screening comes after Grande and Erivosurprised the Kardashian-Jenner family with a special early screeningof the new film atKim Kardashian’s home. The “most magical pajama party” saw pink balloons andWickeddecorations, and included most members of the family.

“Look what Cynthia and Ariana set up for us. I’ve never been more excited,” Kim, 44, said in a video, adding that the group “loved” the film and “laughed” and “cried.”
