Liam Payne Revealed He Wanted to Marry Girlfriend Kate Cassidy 'Within a Year' in One of His Final Notes Before His Death

Liam Payne’s girlfriendKate Cassidyis sharing one of the final letters theOne Directionsinger wrote before his death on Oct. 16.

On Oct. 23, the 25-year-old influencer posted several sweet photos of her with Payne onInstagram, revealing that she and Payne “manifested our lives together” a few weeks before his death.

In her tribute, she shared a sweet note the singer wrote that revealed his intentions to get engaged and married within the year. “I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444,'” she wrote in a message featured in the gallery.

“My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words,” she continued. “I wish you could see the huge impact you’ve had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now.”

The tribute follows her initial statement shared on herInstagram Storieson Oct. 18, in which she thanked everyone “for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way.”

She expressed that she was at “a complete loss” over Payne’s death and asked fans to give her “grace and space to navigate this in private.”

Payne and Cassidy were first spotted together back in October 2022. While the pair mainly kept their relationship out of the spotlight, Cassidy shared glimpses of their romance through several casual photos and TikTok videos they made together.

PEOPLE confirmed that Payne died after a multi-story fall from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday, Oct. 16. According to apreliminary autopsy report, the singer died after he sustained multiple “internal and external” injuries after falling from his balcony.

On Monday, Oct. 21, a partial autopsy revealed that the singer had “had multiple substances in his system,” perABC News, including “pink cocaine” — a combination drug that includes methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and caffeine and may not always contain cocaine, per theNational Capital Poison Center.

As of Oct. 23, Liam Payne’s father,Geoff Payne, is currently cooperating with Argentine authorities amid their ongoing investigation into Payne’s death.
