Megan Thee Stallion Praises Simone Biles in VMAs Opening Monologue: 'I Deserve a Gold Medal for Being a Bad Bitch'

In her opening monologue, the “Hot Girl Summer” singer andawards show hostappeared in a patriotic, one-shoulder bodysuit that channeled the Olympics and name-checkedSimone Biles.

“Shout out to Simone Biles. Did she let me borrow this?” Megan said, flaunting her bodysuit, which featured “VMA” emblazoned across her chest.

Added the “Mamushi” rapper, “I want to give a shout out to my hotties and my ‘hatties,’ because I know y’all watching, too.”

“As you can see, I am repping team VMA, and tonight, VMA stands for the voluptuous Megan awards,” Megan said. “Clearly, I deserve a gold medal for being a bad bitch.”

Megan, 29, has previously won two Moon Person trophies. In 2019, she won best power anthem withNicki Minaj& Ty Dolla $ign for “Hot Girl Summer.” She took home the best hip-hop song award for “Savage” the following year.

This year, she is up for four awards: best hip hop, best visual effects and best direction for “Boa” along with best collaboration withGloRillafor “Wanna Be.”

The ceremony marked Megan’s first time hosting an awards show. She previously pulled double duty hosting and performing onSaturday Night Livein October 2022, with two musical guest appearances already on her resume at that point.

Her VMAs hosting gig comes not long after herHot Girl Summer Tourwrapping up overseas in July. She also released her third album, titledMEGANon June 28.

Megan also stars in aPepsi commercialwithJosh AllenandTravis Kelcethat dropped earlier this month ahead of the2024-2025 NFL Season. “A Pepsi commercial is such a huge deal,” she told PEOPLE about the star-studded ad.
