Mindy Kaling Just Gave Up Lip Gloss for Good: Here’s Why (Exclusive)

At this week’sTory BurchNew York Fashion Weekshow, the 45-year-old actress, writer and producer shared that the makeup item and motherhood don’t exactly mix.

“I don’t wearlip glossanymore because it just gets in my hair too much,” Kaling told PEOPLE at the Monday, Sept. 9 event. “If I’m in a rush with children — it just smears all over. So I am kind of just doing like a lip balm these days.”

In addition to lip product, Kaling makes sure to keep one item on her at all times during Fashion Week: “My Tide Stick.”

At the show, which took place at The Skylight at The Refinery in Brooklyn, theOfficealum wore a beige striped button-down top with brown pants and brown pointed toe shoes. She wore a light brown textured overcoat and carried a beige purse.

In a June 2024Instagrampost, Kaling announced she had welcomed Anne in February. She is also mother to daughter Katherine Swati, 6, and son Spencer Avu, 4.

As for bringing her kids along to fashion events, the star says that currently, she thinks only her oldest child “would be able to appreciate it.”

“My son is more into like a trucks vibe," themom of threecontinued. “So, unless Tory did like a trucks collab I think it might be lost on him.”

Earlier this month, Kaling celebrated her sonSpencer’s fourth birthdaywith aCars-themed party.

The special day featured an outdoor obstacle course and themed birthday cake.

“Happy Birthday to my number one guy, Spencer Kaling (who woke up this morning and said, ‘I had a great night’s sleep and now I’m four!’) 🚗🚗🚗,” theMindy Projectalum wrote on Instagram.
