Nancy Pelosi Says Republicans Privately Told Her That Democrats ‘Have to Beat’ Donald Trump so GOP Can Start Fresh

Former House SpeakerNancy Pelosiclaims that members of the Republican Party have told her they want to seeDonald TrumpandJ.D. Vancedefeated in the2024 presidential election.

According to Pelosi, some Republicans have approached her and said, “You have to beat them in the general because we can’t beat them in the primary. And then we will come back to our debate on the issues.”

“The Republican Party has been hijacked, and it’s now a cult, and they should take it back because a republic needs a strong Republican Party,” Pelosi told Mitchell, adding theGOPhad previously done “great things” for the country.

“So, in any event, we just have to win the election,” she concluded.

Pelosi — who isseeking reelection to the Housein 2024 — endorsedKamala Harrisfor president on July 22, calling her “a champion for working families, notably fighting for a woman’s right to choose.”

“Politically, make no mistake: Kamala Harris as a woman in politics is brilliantly astute,” she continued. “And I have full confidence that she will lead us to victory in November.”
