N.C. Police Respond to Call About a 9-Foot Snake Blocking a Car: 'It Really Happened'

It was a strange and slithering day on the job for a group of North Carolina police officers.

On Aug. 2, the Greensboro Police Departmentposted on Facebookthat officers had “received a call about a possible snake ‘preventing the driver from entering a vehicle.'”

“And yes, it was an eight to 10-foot python. Animal Control has since taken custody of it and cleared the scene,” the post added.

“I don’t remember moving to Australia,” shared one commenter.

“At that point, he can have the car! Him and his family,” added another.

The Greensboro Police Department also responded to its own post, providing a photo of the apprehended Burmese python for any doubters.

The police departmentshared an updateshortly after its initial post, providing more details about the snake call.

“Thank you to Guilford County Animal Control for coming and saving the day! A very slippery situation, indeed,” the Greensboro Police Department wrote, adding, “The snake was officially nine feet long.”

According tolocal Fox affiliate WGHP, on Aug. 2, Kathy Whitt walked out to her car in the parking lot of an office building and spotted a snake dangling from the vehicle’s undercarriage.

“A large python was found underneath a Samaritan’s car on Battleground. Animal Control was called to the scene to remove the animal safely from underneath the vehicle. The python is currently in foster during its stray period in hopes of reuniting it with its owner,“Guilford County Animal Services sharedin an Aug. 2 Facebook update about the snake.
