Nicole Kidman Explains Why She and 'Witch Sister' Sandra Bullock Understood TheirPractical MagicDynamic So Well

TheLionessstar, 57, shared in an interview withBritish GQpublished on Monday, Nov. 18, that she and Bullock, 60, understood their sister dynamic inPractical Magicdue to the similarities within their respective families.

“I have a sister and she has a sister. So that thread is in there. Like the sisters, you’ve got each other’s back, and we’re together. So, Sandy and I both understood that and feel it with our own sisters,” Kidman said, referring to her sister,Antonia Kidman, and Bullock’s sister,Gesine Bullock-Prado.

“Yeah, [she’s] my sister witch,” she added of theSpeedstar.

Kidman also noted that the actress was one of the reasons why she decided to join the film, saying, “I read the novel and went, ‘Cool I’ve always wanted to be a witch,’ and I want to be her sister. [It’s] that simple.”

However, it wasn’t until they finally worked together that she finally got to discover more about Bullock, explaining, “she’s sharp, she’s funny and, you know, she’s very private, Sandy.”

“You don’t really know much about her, but she’s just fantastic,” she continued. “I’m crazy about her.”

The pair of actresses are set to reunite forPractical Magic 2. Kidman confirmed she and Bullock will reprise their roles as Gillian and Sally Owens in the sequel to 1998’sPractical Magicin a June interview with PEOPLE. They will also produce the movie alongside Denise Di Novi, whileA Beautiful Mind’sAkiva Goldsman has been tapped to write the screenplay.

“Yes I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that’s that,” she said with a laugh at the time. “There’s a lot more to tell, which is why we go, ‘Okay, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.’ "

“[We] found a way in,” she added.

Over the years, the Oscar-winning actresses have spoken fondly aboutPractical Magic. During a brief reunion with her former costar at the 2018Academy Awards, Kidman said, “I love that movie.”

“I showed that movie to my kids. It’s a little above their [level of understanding] … But we’re really good sisters,” she added.

For her part,Bullockalso recounted her favorite scene from the supernatural flick, the singular and oft-talked about"midnight margaritas” scenewhere Bullock and Kidman apparently got tipsy while filming.

“We were talking about when we shot [Practical Magic] together, and we asked her to get the tequila; she came back with her own tequila, but we drank it anyway. We were a little drunk,” Bullock said.
