“They gave us their old wardrobe boxes and they had all of their names still on them,” singer Matt Ramsey explained. “One of our crew guys was getting ready to scrub them off and we were like no, no, no, no, leave them on there. So we kept them on there for many, many years, ‘til they were breaking down and falling apart.”
Once the boxes were past the point of repair, Old Dominion replaced them — but put the names back on. Ramsey says he’sKaren Fairchild, and Trevor Rosen isKimberly Schlapman. Brad Tursi and Geoff Sprung, meanwhile, said they share — and that Philip Sweet’s box ended up being transformed into a bar cart.

“Maybe I’m Jimi [Westbrook],” said Sprung. “We have not been on the road enough for me to remember.”

“After the first tour we did with them, they gifted us wardrobes. They were like, ‘When you guys are done, just pay it forward to someone else,’” Fairchild recalled. “When Old Dominion was brand new, we had bought new wardrobes, and we gave our old ones to the guys.”
The singer then relayed the same story Ramsey did, explaining that even though Old Dominion had recently bought new cases, they kept Little Big Town’s names on them.
“It’s their good luck charm,” Sweet joked. “It meant so much to us when Sugarland did that.”
Added Schlapman: “Otherwise, you’re lugging suitcases everywhere, and when you can put all your show clothes and shoes and makeup in one spot, and you don’t have to worry about lugging that around and toting it everywhere, it’s really helpful. It makes a difference.”
Both bands have released new music in recent weeks; Old Dominion’s sixth albumOldies But Goodiescame out last month, as did Little Big Town’s new Christmas record.
