Patrick Mahomes Sr. Begins 10-Day Jail Sentence in Texas for DWI Conviction

Patrick Mahomes Sr.has begun serving his sentence in county jail following aDWI conviction.
The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterbackPatrick Mahomesis serving the 10-day sentence after pleading guilty to his third charge of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
Mahomes Sr. was arrested on Feb. 3 — just days beforehis son won a third Super Bowlfor the Chiefs — after recording a blood alcohol content of 0.23 when an officer pulled him over in Tyler, Texas.

He submitted his guilty plea in August, agreeing to serve the 10 days in county jail in addition to five years of probation and an additional year of “intense supervision,” according to local news stationKETK.
When the former MLB pitcher was arrested in February, the arresting officer said Mahomes Sr. had an open can of beer in the center console of his vehicle. He was taken into custody after failing his field sobriety tests, per KETK.
In 2018, Mahomes Sr. served 40 days in county jail following a previous DWI arrest.
