Patrick Schwarzenegger Opens Up About Wedding Planning with Fiancée Abby Champion: 'I'm Just There to Support Her'

In a new interview withGQ, the 30-year-old actor shared a little update on their upcoming nuptials, telling the magazine that he is taking a support role in the planning process.

“As I’ve learned, the role is just to make sure that she’s happy, just whatever she wants to do,” said Patrick, who is the son ofArnold SchwarzeneggerandMaria Shriver. “I’m happy to give my opinion on things, and otherwise I’m just there to support her and make it so that she has the best day that she wants. That’s really my job.”

According toGQ, the couple — whoannounced their engagementin December 2023 — have their sights on a 2025 wedding after having to delay their plans due to Patrick’s filming schedule for season 3 ofThe White Lotus.

Patrick and Champion, 27, shared their engagement news via a jointInstagram postthe day after Christmas last year. Alongside a series of photos from his beach proposal to the model,The Staircasestar wrote, “💍❤️FOREVER AND EVER ❤️💍.”

Per the photos, Patrick set a romantic scene on the sand to pop the question, scattering red rose petals and displaying a large heart-shaped flower arrangement. The final snapshot in the carousel shows the newly engaged couple posing with a celebratory cake decorated with a photo of themselves.

At the time, Patrick’s family shared their excitement about the engagement on social media. Shriver, 68, posted a message onInstagram, writing in part, “So this happened, and I’m beyond thrilled! I’m beyond inspired. I’m beyond excited.”

Patrick’s sisterKatherine Schwarzeneggeralso cheered the engagement news, writing, “Joy joy joy I love them both so much,” as she reshared a photo from Patrick and Champion’s engagement shoot on her Instagram Stories.
