Police Investigating How 2-Year-Old Girl Died on Road After Parents Put Her to Bed: ‘Walked Out of the House’

“Upon arrival on scene troopers found a 2-year-old female toddler lying in the road,” the statement read. The toddler was taken to Hillsdale Hospital, but later died from her injuries, police stated.

On Wednesday, Sept.18, Lieutenant Rene Gonzalez of the MSP told PEOPLE that its officers were conducting “an ongoing investigation” into the tragic event and added, “at this time we have no new information to release.”

In its initial statement on X, the MSP said “A first responder was on scene performing life-saving measures, troopers assisted with life-saving measures until EMS arrived on scene and took over medical treatment.”

Police haven’t released the names of anyone involved in the crash.

An autopsy will now be performed on the 2-year-old. Police are asking anyone with information to contact MSP Jackson Post.
